Dr. Leland Dao is a distinguished board-certified osteopathic physician, having originally practiced in Haleiwa, Hawaii, and now brings over 20 years of medical expertise to the Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine.

Raised in Southern California, Dr. Dao earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California at San Diego, majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Visual Arts. He continued his academic pursuit at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California (now Western University of Health Sciences), receiving his Doctor of Osteopathy Degree in 1992. He invented the groundbreaking Cleanblade Surgical device during his medical school training.

Post-medical school, Dr. Dao completed his Internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin Family Medicine Program, followed by Residency training at the University of Hawaii Family Medicine Program. Since 1997, he has maintained a thriving private practice, serving diverse generations of patients and families through the Keena Kai Clinic in Haleiwa, Oahu.

Driven by a passion for surfing, Dr. Dao has served as the Medical Director for the World Surf League’s Hawaii Triple Crown of Surfing for an impressive 22 years, providing specialized care to elite surfers. In addition to his involvement in sports medicine, he has contributed to medical innovation by developing the SUPER Tennis Elbow Brace, a patented device designed for effective treatment of Tennis Elbow.
Extending his impact beyond Hawaii, Dr. Dao has been invited to provide care for Touring Professional Surf athletes in various locations, including Australia, Japan, Tahiti, South Africa, California, France, Ireland, and Mexico.

Dr. Dao is a founding member of the Los Angeles Foil Club, a group of avid hydrofoiling enthusiasts with nearly 500 members worldwide. He is also an Attending Physician for the Genesis Invitational, a nationally televised PGA Golf Tournament held annually at the renowned Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades.

Dr. Dao also serves as an on-call Hawaii Physician for various entertainment studios, including Lionsgate, Universal, ABC, 20th Century Fox, Nickelodeon, etc.
