Mindfulness and Well-being Coach

Dr. Swati Desai is a mindfulness teacher, psychotherapist, and well-being coach whose work blends Eastern wisdom with Western psychology, driven by a strong passion for helping people rediscover their happiness and the power of being fully present. 

Born and raised in India, she holds a Ph.D. in Management from UCLA and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work.  Her professional journey spanning two decades encompasses computer programming and clinical social work. Her turning point came during a personal crisis, where she discovered mindfulness not as a technique, but as a way of life. 

Intrigued by the intersection of psychology and personal growth, Swati pursued a master’s in clinical social work at UCLA, ultimately becoming a licensed psychotherapist and launching a lifelong path of teaching, guiding, and supporting others in accessing their own inner clarity, resilience, and freedom.  Swati’s multifaceted training in how the mind works, together with her training in Integrative approaches to mindfulness and emotional healing, gives her a rare perspective and skills to help people in their personal transformation.

She is certified in both mindfulness and mindful self-compassion, and draws from Buddhist psychology, EMDR, and trauma-sensitive approaches in her work. Since 2006, she has offered mindfulness-based therapy and coaching through the Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine in Los Angeles, while also leading workshops and retreats internationally.

She is the creator of the “2meditate” app and online community, and the author of Get Mindfulness Right—a book that brings the ancient Indian roots of mindfulness into dialogue with modern psychology and science.

Dividing her time between India and the U.S., Swati continues to mentor individuals and groups on a path of self-awareness, spiritual integration, and empowered well-being. Her approach is rooted in the belief that challenges are part of the human experience—but with the right tools, support, and inner practices, we can all learn to meet life with grace, resilience, and deep inner freedom.
