Susan Powell, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Susan Powell, Board-Certified Physician Assistant, is passionate about integrative and functional approaches to medical care. With a wealth of experience in sports medicine and an innate ability to integrate all parts of the individual, Susan wholeheartedly embraces Akasha’s approach of “meeting her patients before meeting their diseases.”

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Cedarville University in Ohio in 2014 Susan furthered her studies to acquire the needed skills to fully help patients move from their experience of dis-ease to wellness. With that goal in mind, she entered the Physician Assistant Studies at the Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles, CA, in 2021. Additionally, she completed an internship in clinical exercise physiology at Ohio Health: McConnell Heart Health Center in Columbus, OH.

Her passion for helping people professionally has led her to work as a Regenerative Medicine Physician Assistant at Elite Integrative Medical in Beverly Hills, CA, and as an Orthopedic Spine Surgical Physician Assistant in Thousand Oaks, CA.

In addition, Susan’s desire to deepen her knowledge in pain management and overall medical care has led her to gain valuable experience shadowing and volunteering in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Brooklyn Pediatric Orthopedics in Brooklyn, NY, working as an Exercise Physiologist and Physical Therapy Aide at Matrix Physical Therapy in Santa Monica, CA, and serving as a Master Trainer at Vida Fitness in Washington, D.C.

Susan holds several certifications and licenses, including:

  • Physician Assistant State License
  • John F. Barnes Myofascial Release 1 Certification
  • DEA Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist
  • ACSM Certified Personal Trainer

When not attending to her patients’ medical needs, Susan is an avid outdoors and exercise enthusiast. She enjoys strength and conditioning, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, reading, journaling, and meditation.

Given Susan’s passion for exercise and the outdoors, it is no surprise that her goal is to keep her patients moving and exercising free of pain. Sports medicine, integrative and functional medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation are the tools she uses to help her patients optimize their health, mobility, productivity, and achieve better emotional balance. She is dedicated to continuous professional development and delivering integrative, patient-centered care.
